THE INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE

with the theme

XIVth annual

March 27th 2010

Bucharest,  Romania

  • The Romanian Mathematical Society, the Bucharest branch, includes in it’s calendar of activities also the scientific conference, between January and June 2010.

ARGUMENT:

,, The purchase of a mathematical formation – said the academician Nicolae Teodorescu – must be entirely the result of students’ work. It is not educational   the confrontation between student and a ready-made mathematics and the idea of teaching  mathematics founded on spontaneous activity of the student must be admired and encouraged But for this, the student must learn to analyze real situations and to build models derived from them, so this way they can relate and create connections with mathematics. Starting from the reality and walking across himself as an explorer, all stages, and the student can go to apply mathematics to reality.”

Having as a starting point these recommendations, we intend to demonstrate that the active methods used in the mathematic classes determine the students and teachers to create lessons much more attractive.

A well done educational concept will allow expression of the initiative, spontaneity and creativity of the student and also will allow the teacher to guide and direct him, but in all cases there will be relations of cooperation between teacher and students. The relations of cooperation between teachers and students are the fundamental aspect of active methods in the current European educational policies.

This year’s annual 2009-2010 the international scientific conference “Mathematics Past and Present” has become a traditional event at the technical High School “Traian”, of Bucharest, is centered on the idea of the opportunity to exchange experience in interactive teaching strategies and the integration of multimedia technologies in schools, to give value and promote teaching approaches, to encourage actions that ensure the quality of education and continuous training.

Through all these efforts we would like to give value to the overall objective of the European Year 2009, which is to promote creativity as an engine of innovation and key factor to the personal development, occupational, and social entrepreneurship through lifelong learning.

“Everything that is correct thinking is either mathematics or susceptible of mathematics.(Grigore Moisil)
